The response to the latest A4 has been nothing short of phenomenal, with the sedan’s driving dynamics and engagement being compared to the segment’s long-standing Bavarian benchmark. But offering a true, entry-level model is just the start. For those who want more sports sedan from their sports sedan, the 2018 Audi S4 dials it up.
You’d be hard pressed to find any stark visual differences between the S4 and A4, aside from details and badges. Behind the wheel, however, the additional power and suspension tweaks make themselves known at once. The S4 sees the A4’s 252 hp/274 lb-ft of twist, and dials it up to 354 hp/369 lb-ft of torque from a turbocharged V6. You can expect to hit sixty in 4.4-seconds (best-in-class), and the legendary quattro AWD system can distribute power to virtually any wheel if slippage is detected. With nominal traction, 60 to 85 percent of the power goes aft, but 70 percent can be shunted forward to improve gas mileage.
