Every Atlas is powered by a 269-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 273 pound-feet of torque. It's matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission and your choice of front- or all-wheel drive. Compared to the previous V-6, the turbo 2.0-liter powertrain and the retuned transmission gives the engine a new lease on life.

When it's properly equipped, the 2025 VW Atlas can tow up to 5000 pounds. The Atlas with front-wheel-drive is good for 20 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway. If you go with all-wheel drive the estimates drop just a little to 19 MPG city and 26 mpg highway for most models.

Exterior and Interior

The exterior of the 2025 VW Atlas continues with the same refinements developed for 2024 including a front end with a more modern appearance. The refreshed grille and headlight configuration is the same and the fenders, roofline and exterior panels have the same attractive shape as last year.

Inside the cabin the new 2025 VW Atlas comes with an abundance of cupholders that makes it an especially family-friendly SUV. The third row of seats can comfortably provide space for full-grown adults, something that's a rarity among three-row SUVs. The new 2025 Atlas provides up to 96.8 cubic feet when the back two rows of seats are folded down.

Technology & Safety

Standard technology in the new 2025 VW Atlas includes a 12 inch touchscreen, a 10.25 inch digital gauge cluster, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless device charging, satellite radio and a six-speaker stereo. Other standard features include tri-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button start and an automatically-dimming rear view mirror. Available tech upgrades include remote start, a 115-volt household-style power outlet, a panoramic sunroof and a premium Harman Kardon stereo system with 12 speakers.

Standard safety features include a rearview camera, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, rain-sensing windshield wipers, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Available safety upgrades include a surround-view camera system and a head-up display that projects vital driving information directly on your windshield.
