Although luxury crossovers like the Q5 do a great job of offering premium utility with a dash of sport, many don’t come as close to models like the A4 and A6 for many people’s liking. That’s where the all-new 2018 Audi SQ5 comes in. Carrying over its SUV chops, the SQ5 adds on a turbocharged V6 with 354 horsepower, 369 lb-ft of torque, and a 5.1 second sprint to sixty mph.
We don’t blame you if your inner performance buff’s ears perked up at that. But the power numbers are just the beginning. A Tiptronic eight-speed automatic sends that power to the Quattro AWD system, which can redirect power to prevent wheel slippage, and also recalibrate itself for performance driving. To take over control, a Drive Select system lets you configure the suspension (and ride height, with the S Sport Package’s Adaptive Air Suspension equipped), while paddle shifters enable a “manual-esque” sense of engagement.
